“In just 6 years, Alex Vaughan has developed an international reputation as a leading portrait and documentary photographer of actors. Known for her distinctive style of natural light portraiture and an ability to reveal what’s at the core of her subjects, she is sought-after globally and divides the majority of her time between Australia and the U.S. Vaughan has been a finalist in some of Australia’s most prestigious photographic awards, including The National Photographic Portrait Prize & HeadOn.  She was also chosen as one of Nikon Australia’s first official Nikon School Lecturers.”

If you are a photographer and the idea of working almost anywhere in the world, in virtually any situation, with minimal equipment and overheads appeals to you, then I would LOVE you to join me for my inaugural day long workshop.

Light Lab is about connecting with what is in front of you right now; the light you see, the heart and soul of your subject, and the way you capture these elements with your camera.

This workshop is designed to help you build a solid foundation from which adaptability and creativity can flourish.

For the last four years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world photographing actors and creatives.

The key elements that have enabled me to do this are:

  • The ability to adapt to photographing in virtually any situation. Learning how to utilize natural and available light exclusively to create distinctive and intimate portraits.

  • The ability to craft images that are connected and honest. Getting to the core of who my subjects are. This is enabled by careful and open communication, and creation of a safe environment for people to play, experiment and collaborate within. The result is unique and revealing imagery with soul.

  •  The ability to combine elements of framing, composition, shape and form to craft imaginative, intriguing and story driven environmental portraits.

In this day-long intensive, I will guide you through my process of image creation from beginning to end. This means that I will show you how to plan for a shoot and step you through my communication process with clients.

We will hit the streets of London, and I will reveal exactly how I work and what I look for on a shoot. I will then take you through the editing and post-production workflow (including retouching), right through to the finished image.

Everything will be laid on the table….

As this is an intimate workshop, spots are limited. To make it fair places will be allocated on a first booked, first reserved basis.
